Authenticity is everything
A community engagement video only works when the people involved feel respected and represented.
1. Start with community consultation
Speak with: local leaders, participants, Elders (for Aboriginal or Indigenous content), and program staff.
2. Use a strengths-based approach
Show community pride, resilience and leadership, not deficits.
3. Keep language warm and human
Avoid overly formal government wording.
4. Film real people in real places
Authentic environments matter.
5. Share the story early
Give participants a say in messaging and tone.
Greater Visuals: community-first production
We prioritise respect, inclusion and collaboration in all engagement content.
